i always know how difficultly compose wedding speech.

so, some example for groom:

(Jane - bride, Jack and Ruth - bride’s father and mother , Sally and Milly - braidsmaids)

“Preparing this speech was quite a cathartic process.
I scribbled down the things I ought to say.
And those I wanted to say.
And every single one of them seemed to involve unearthing a deep dark secret.

Jack and Ruth have been wonderful.
Not just in the build up to today …… but ever since we first met.
Which was to tell them that Jane and I had become engaged.
To say they were surprised would be an understatement.
But they should count their lucky stars that they escaped all my boring football stories!

In those days, an early night meant not queuing for a kebab when the pub closed.
I kept working, often with matchsticks propping my eyes open.
In fact, it was quite amazing that I stayed awake long enough to meet Jane in the first place.

Which, I am told, has made me much better company.
For which, Jane, you are entirely responsible.

So, on what is far and away the best day of my life, I’d like to tell my wife that she has truly made me happier than I thought possible …
And propose a toast to her bridesmaids, Sally and Milly“
